I agree with you that the notes icon could be better.
My recommendations for it are as follows:
- Loose the white text on the icon.
- Rotate it 90 degrees to make it look more like a notebook.
- put a book mark on the cover, and or post it note type tags on the un-bound side (but in a subtle way)
I really like it though.
The icon with the cloud looks a little out of place with the rest of them. It is almost jarring visually in contrast to the others. What app are you intending it for?
The detail on theses are great as well as the careful balance in the to not make them too dark that it is hard to see, but not to light to look awkward. Somehow I like this better than the previous set I critiqued.
Out of all the icons in this set, I like the little address book the best, somehow my eyes were drawn to that one immediately. My least favorite would have to be the date one. The depth in it looks a bit strange to me. Probably instead of having that little tab, I would just go ahead and alter the tab out.
